Step-up with English – Storytelling Fun
In April, our school proudly organised a lively and engaging storytelling competition for Primary 3 and Primary 4 students. The event was part of our “Step-up with English” programme, which aims to build students’ confidence, creativity, and love for the English language. Over several weeks, students worked hard to prepare their stories, practising pronunciation, expression, and gestures to bring their characters to life.
The competition was filled with excitement. Participants shared a wide variety of stories, including folktales, adventure tales and funny stories. Each storyteller impressed the audience with expressive voices, clear articulation, and confident stage presence. The judges had a difficult task selecting the winners because every participant showed great effort and enthusiasm.
To celebrate their achievement, the winners were invited to perform their stories once again in the school library on 14th April, 21st April, 28th April, and 5th May. These special storytelling sessions created a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the library. Students from different grade levels gathered during lunch time to listen to the captivating performances. The audience members were attentive and supportive, often responding with laughter, applause, and thoughtful questions.
These sessions not only showcased the talents of our young storytellers but also encouraged other students to develop an interest in reading and public speaking. Many students shared that they felt inspired to participate in future storytelling activities. Teachers were proud to see the confidence and improvement demonstrated by the performers.
The storytelling competition was truly a meaningful experience for everyone involved. It strengthened our school’s reading culture and highlighted the importance of communication skills in learning English.
Congratulations once again to all our winners and participants for their hard work and wonderful performances. We look forward to more exciting storytelling events in the future!
